Staycations in the TopDutch region

Typical Dutch family holidays are often spent camping, either in a tent, campervan or a static caravan. Travel to certain areas in France and Spain and you’ll be sure to hear Dutch at some point.

But if you’re looking for a trip a little closer to home, there are also plenty of beautiful areas to travel to in the region. The Frisian Islands, or Waddeneilanden, which you can find just off the coast of Friesland on the North Sea, are very popular with locals and tourists due to their stunning landscapes, important nature and mix of culture and tranquility.

With more than 2,100 km of cycling routes scrawling through stunning natural scenery, our province of Drenthe draws in cycling tourists from around the world. Combining culture and nature? Explore Drenthe on foot and step into Van Gogh's footsteps by following the Van Gogh walking routes.
